Day -1 (8th September)

OK, first test of the communication plan ......

As suggested each night I intend to write a short note about the day and include photographs ...... the only flaw to this plan is I'm relying of access to a computer at the hotels we stop in, a fact that I have not been able to truly establish. So if it does all go quiet I apologise in advance and will have to provide retrospective review.
This evening I'm spending in Oxford with my sister and brother in law and tomorrow Alan has very kindly agreed to drop me off in London at the 'rally' point. The plan is the 'peloton' is on the the road by 7.00 am and the only target for the day is to be in Dover by 4.30pm to catch the ferry. Doesn't sound too bad apart from the fact that it's 95 miles and described as undulating.

I have spoken with Wayne and he sounds good, if a little sore, so I'm looking forward to meeting up with Julia and him on Wednesday.

I do hope you interact and post comments, dead easy just follow the link at the bottom of the posting, you don't have to be a member just use the 'name' category ..... certainly hoping for some banter !

Hope it all works out........ off to bed now

Thanks

Andrew

  4. If you can survive driving and riding your bike in Italy this should be a breeze!? Plus you haven't got to try and keep up with the "bikeonic man" - John Collis!!
Whiskey is a good antiseptic or pain killer!? - taken internally of course!!
The cause is well worth any pain - we all wish you well.
We had a really great time with you in Italy. We realize how hard it must have been for you all to be there without Richard.
Keep going mate - not far now! Your man boobs must have shrunk by now with all that exercise!? Smallwoods and mine have developed to an Italian D cup!!
We will keep tracking your progress - see you on your return.

  5. Well done Andy. You and your cycling mates have done really well.
Italy was great with the Masseys(as Duncan commented) but I'm not sure the gang are ready for the speedo photos. We've only just got Andy and Duncan to throw theirs away!
    Safe trip home.

  6. Ask the blonde if she would wear (just) your speedos and you can cycle behind her!! It could stop the flies in your teeth!?
